Scrapware Memory Box Garden by Lianne

This was a fun project to do. When I received the pack from Scotties to make a project and instructions to  be sold as a kit, I wondered how I could do it and still make it my own style. Something I would love and want to keep myself. It was all beautiful stuff but sometimes you just don't know how you can put it together and still be true to you. But I did it and was very happy with what I came up with. This will definitely find a place on my wall somewhere.
There are still kits available at Scotties if you would like one. If you love masks and sprays and scrunching paper you will love this. Just give them a call.

Winners!!! and a Prima layout

Hi Everyone

Just a small post announcing the winners for competitions that are been run over the last few weeks on the blog.

Firstly the winner for commenting on the Favourites of CHA posts is Sandra Mason.

The monthly challenge must have been hard ;) as we only had two takers! So Mazz and Callie you will both be getting a RAK for your lovely creations- Thanks so much for taking part!

Mazz, Callie and Sandra please send your details to Adrienne at customerservice@scottiecrafts.co.nz so she can send you a RAK.

Thanks everyone who commented and took part in the challenge - this months challenge is easy.
Create a project using your favourite scrapping manufacturer - you can use more then one if you want!

Here is a layout I created last night using my favourite which is Prima and I have used the Pixie Glen Collection. I have used the resistant canvas shapes and covered them with Distress Stains - bundled sage, tumbled glass and picket fence and dabbed them with a paper towel.
This little man will be 11 in two months - time flies!

September Challenge

Welcome everyone to September's Challenge which ends Midnight the 15th of October and you could win a RAK. Its Bev here again with this months challenge - been a bit hectic with the Hamilton show preparations/show and unpacking!

I thought we will have a nice easy challenge for you this month. The Monday before the show we were preparing for the show and the courier arrived with the new Prima (nearly didn't bring it in the shop as he did not realise we were there!).  As a lot of people know I love Prima products definitely my favourite manufacturer! A fair bit of the new Prima has made its way home with me ( ok..maybe just a bit more then a fair bit ;) ) and I managed to create tonight with some - should be on my blog soon.  Now on with the challenge .....

Who is your favourite manufacturer? Create a layout, card or OTP project with products from your favourite  manufacturer or manufacturers and link to MR LINKY in the sidebar. Have Fun!!

Here is a collage of some of the layouts I have
 created using PRIMA.

Memory Scrapware Shadow Box Kit

If you have been to the Hamilton Craft Fair in the last few days, you may have seen this shadow box.

Now obviously if you haven't been anywhere Hamilton you won't have seen it ... couldn't resist, sorry!!!!

I was sent a pizza box of goodies from Scottie Crafts recently and it goes without saying that I had to be a little creative with its contents. But ... not only did I need to be creative, I had to put together written instructions on how I created my shadow box.

Now this was a first ... I normally go hell for leather and create, I don't normally have a plan of where I'm heading ... I just do it ... so in this case, I had to actually think a little more along the way, take photos occasionally and write up a step by step ... phew!!!!!! And while that may sound easy ... to be honest it isn't.

So, if you too would like to put a memory shadow box together just like this one ... talk to the team at Scottie Crafts and they will have a kit with all the goodies in it ... well except for a few things ... you know what I mean, ink, paint and the basics ... but then if you haven't got some of basics, the girls there can help you with that too.

Now in the bottom right hand side cluster you will see a wee corked bottle, I pulled a couple of petals apart on a rose and popped in a couple of petals before I dabbed a little distress crackle paint on the surface.

It's the little things girls.

Happy creating.

Michelle

Reminder of this months Challenge

AUGUST 2011 CHALLENGE

Link your layout/creation to Mr Linky in the sidebar by midnight the 15th of September 2011.

Lets start with colour. Check out this site and pick a colour palette to create your LO from. It doesn't have to be the exact colours, that would be too hard, close enough is ok.

Next pick a designer that inspires you. You could chose someone from my blog. Look under 'So Inspired By' in my sidebar. Find someones style that inspires you from there or you may already have someone elses style you love in mind. I love Jennifer Johners style. I find it quite unique and relaxed. I love her photo placement and use of random elements around the page.

So here is the colour palette I chose.

And here is my LO. Obviously depending on the light when photographing your LO, the colours could look different, but you get the general idea of the colours used.

If you find this too easy and want an extra challenge, try using all patterned papers, except for the matting of your photo. And/or you could try using paint on your LO. You could also try a mix of lower and upper case letters in your title.

But the main part of this challenge is to pick a colour scheme and a designer to inspire your LO.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing your creations.

Lianne.
